Cast Revealed for Indigo’s UK Premiere at Curve, Leicester
The much-anticipated UK premiere of Indigo, a new musical exploring themes of family, mental health, and the intricacies of the human experience, has revealed its full cast. The production, which is set to run at Curve, Leicester from 26 June to 19 July 2025, promises to be an emotional and powerful exploration of three generations of women navigating their relationships, dealing with Alzheimer’s, autism, and synesthesia.
Story and Themes
Indigo tells the story of three generations of women, centered around Elaine, a firecracker 63-year-old who battles the early onset of Alzheimer’s, and her daughter Beverly, who struggles to connect with her. Meanwhile, Beverly’s daughter Emma, who is autistic and non-speaking, communicates her unique perspective through synesthesia and shares her world with the audience.
The musical touches on deeply personal and societal issues, providing an intimate look at the challenges of living with Alzheimer's, autism, and synesthesia, and exploring the bonds that hold a family together despite all odds.
Cast of Indigo
Lisa Maxwell (Loose Women, The Bill) will star as Elaine, a woman defying the limitations imposed by early-onset Alzheimer’s, bringing her fierce independence and spirit to the stage.
Rebecca Trehearn (Olivier Award Winner) plays Beverly, Elaine’s daughter, who navigates the heartache and love involved in caring for a parent with Alzheimer's.
Katie Cailean makes her professional stage debut as Emma, Beverly’s autistic and non-speaking daughter, offering the audience a fresh and poignant perspective on communication and connection.

Nuno Queimado (Hamilton) as Rick, Beverly’s husband, who supports his wife in caring for Elaine.

Directed by Catie Davis, Indigo features music and lyrics by Scott Evan Davis and a book by Kait Kerrigan.
