The Alexandra Birmingham

The Alexandra Birmingham, built in 1901 by William Coutts, is one of the city’s most historic performance venues. Known locally as “The Alex,” the theatre has welcomed major touring productions for more than a century, including West End musicals, drama, comedy and large-scale entertainment.

Following a major refurbishment in 2018, the theatre reverted to its original name, restoring its heritage and architectural character. Today, it remains a central part of Birmingham’s cultural life and continues to present a busy programme of high-profile shows throughout the year.
