Cast Announced for The Sound of Music at Curve, Leicester

Curve, Leicester has announced the lead cast for their new production of the iconic musical The Sound of Music. This classic production, featuring music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, follows Maria, a novice nun who is sent to care for the von Trapp children, embarking on a heartwarming journey that has captured audiences for decades. Famous numbers like "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," and "Edelweiss" are set to bring the show to life once again.

The Return of Molly Lynch and David Seadon-Young

For this new production, Molly Lynch and David Seadon-Young will reprise their roles as Maria and Captain Georg von Trapp, respectively. The pair previously collaborated at Curve in 2024, playing Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins in the theatre’s production of My Fair Lady. The duo’s performances last year were widely praised, with Curve’s chief executive Chris Stafford and director Nikolai Foster commenting on the "pure theatrical magic" they created. They noted that their "virtuosic performances, filled with beauty, courage, and originality," left a lasting impression on all who saw them.

Stafford and Foster also expressed their excitement about the duo’s return, saying: "It’s an honour to see these magnificent, once-in-a-generation talents returning to Leicester, where they promise to give everything to these magnificent characters and this important landmark of musical theatre."

The Made at Curve production is directed by Nikolai Foster and marks the 60th anniversary of the 1965 film adaptation. The creative team behind this highly anticipated revival includes:

Community Engagement and Accessible Performances

The production will also feature a range of engagement activities, including an education pack, school workshops, and a Theatre Day on 4 December 2025. Additionally, The Sound of Music at Curve will offer a variety of accessible performances, including British Sign Language interpreted, captioned, dementia-friendly, audio-described, and relaxed performances to ensure that everyone can enjoy the magic of this beloved musical.
