Cast Announced for Lord of the Flies at Chichester Festival Theatre

The Chichester Festival Theatre has announced the full cast for Anthony Lau’s new production of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, based on Nigel Williams’s acclaimed stage adaptation. The production will run from 19 September – 11 October 2025, with a press night on Thursday 25 September.

Lord of the Flies, first published in 1954, remains a modern classic and is frequently ranked high in iconic novels lists. This riveting adventure delves deep into the heart of darkness, where a group of young survivors, stranded on a desert island after a plane crash, must fend for themselves. As tribal loyalties develop and societal rules break down, the struggle for power turns deadly. The production explores humanity's fragility and the clash between civilization and chaos.

The Story: Power Struggles and Survival on a Desert Island

The plot of Lord of the Flies revolves around the survival of a group of young boys stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. Struggling to adapt, they soon form tribal loyalties, with Ralph and Piggy striving to maintain order. As time passes, the boys shed their school uniforms and any sense of civility, leading to the fierce rivalry between Ralph and Jack. A deadly struggle ensues as the boys wrestle with their humanity and the potential for chaos. Can rescue come in time to save them, or will they succumb to the darker forces within?
