Tina – The Tina Turner Musical to Close in the West End
Tina – The Tina Turner Musical will conclude its incredible run in the West End later this year. After first opening at the Aldwych Theatre in 2018, the production has become the longest-running show ever at the venue, breaking all box office records. By the time it closes, Tina will be in the top ten longest-running musicals currently performing in the West End.
A Difficult Decision to Close the West End Production
Tina – The Tina Turner Musical has had a remarkable journey, and Stage Entertainment producer Tali Pelman expressed the difficulty of the decision to close the show. Pelman shared: “Celebrating and sharing Tina’s legacy has meant so much to all of us who have been working on this show over the last decade. We are proud to have fulfilled Tina’s dream for the musical, which was to serve not only as a reminder of her work but as the beating heart of her empowering message – courage, indomitable spirit, and an eternal optimism in what is possible.”
Pelman went on to thank the creative team, cast, musicians, production teams, and everyone who contributed to the London production over the past ten years, stating: “We are grateful to our exceptional authors and creatives, to the many extraordinary women who have played this phenomenal role on the Aldwych stage, to the casts, musicians, production and backstage teams and to the countless others who have dedicated themselves to the London production over the past ten years.”
Fleur East and Karis Anderson Lead the Final West End Cast
As part of the final cast for the West End production, recording artist and presenter Fleur East will make her theatrical debut this summer as Tina Turner. She will share the role with Karis Anderson. Pelman shared excitement about the summer celebrations, with East and Anderson leading the final performances in London.
